Building a Stronger Partnership Together

At West Gloucestershire Schools Partnership (WGSP), we believe that the greatest expertise already exists within our schools.

Our new three-year development plan reflects our commitment to working collaboratively, sharing effective practice and supporting one another to improve outcomes for all children.

Rather than relying solely on external training providers, we are investing in the knowledge, experience and strengths of colleagues across our partnership.

By learning from one another, we can build a sustainable model of professional development that is practical, relevant and rooted in the realities of our classrooms.

 

Our Vision

To create a self-improving partnership where schools work together, share expertise and develop high-quality practice through collaboration, professional learning and school-to-school support.

 

Our professional learning model is built around five simple principles:

• Meet – Connect through professional networks and collaborative discussions.

• Learn – Access practical CPD delivered by experienced practitioners and trusted specialists.

• See – Visit schools to observe effective practice in action through Open Practice Visits.

• Reflect – Moderate, evaluate and consider how learning can be implemented within your own setting.

• Share – Develop resources, case studies and examples of effective practice to benefit the wider partnership.

 

Year One – Foundations for Learning

Our first year focuses on three areas that underpin successful learning and have been identified as priorities across our member schools.

 

Behaviour, Relationships and Culture

Creating positive learning environments where children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

This will include:

• Practice Network meetings

• Behaviour-focused CPD

• Open Practice Visits

• School-to-school collaboration

• Practical resources and shared approaches

 

Early Years

Strengthening Early Years provision to give every child the very best start to their education.

This will include:

• Early Years Practice Network meetings

• Moderation opportunities

• Open Practice Visits

• Practical workshops

• Support from experienced Early Years practitioners and specialist providers

 

Writing

Improving writing through collaboration, shared expectations and practical classroom approaches.

This will include:

• Writing Practice Network meetings

• Writing moderation

• Open Practice Visits

• Practical CPD

• Sharing effective classroom practice

 

Looking Ahead

Our first year lays the foundations for the future of the partnership. As we work together and evaluate the impact of this programme,

our priorities for Years Two and Three will continue to evolve in response to the needs of our schools.

Year Two – Curriculum Development
Strengthening curriculum design, subject leadership and high-quality teaching across the partnership.

 

Year Three – Leadership Development
Developing leadership capacity, supporting succession planning and embedding a sustainable, school-led improvement model.
